Family holidays to Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura is one of the Spanish Canary Islands, located just 100 kilometres off the coast of North Africa and is the second largest of the islands. If you and your family seek an island paradise with gorgeous all year long sunny weather, sandy beaches that go on for miles and lots of water sports; look no further. Add the letters ad and you have it family adventure! Nothing beats this island for a relaxed or adventurous winter sun holiday, except perhaps a summer, autumn or spring getaway!
Family days out and attractions in Fuerteventura
Finding lots of fun and cool things for your kids to do in Fuerteventura is easy because most kids love the beach; and for those that don’t there are lots of other activities awaiting them.
There’s camel rides along the beach, see the beach isn’t just about swimming, building sand-castles and soaking up the gorgeous Mediterranean sunshine; although that’s a great day out too! There’s also boating, fishing or whale / dolphin watching; which is an amazing experience that you should do at least once!
Do be pirates for the day as you set sail on the Pedra Sartana Sailing Ship or if luxurious yachting is more your thing; climb aboard a 75ft catamaran for an equally splendid day on the ocean.

Do visit the Oasis Animal Park which is a small zoo in the fishing village of La Lajita, the Fuerteventuras Aloe Vera plantations, quad biking along dirt roads speeding past the valley of the Sleeping Elephants or how about some water park spills and thrills at Baku Water Park? It’s entirely up to you whether you descend some super kamikaze slides, catch a wave in the wave pool or just relax on the lazy river!
There’s also Lobos Island to discover which is located off the north end of Fuerteventura, and named after the colonies of monk seals, or sea wolves, that lived on the island until the 19th century.
For older children and adults that enjoy surfing, Fuerteventura is a surfers’ paradise. There is also great scuba diving, abundant marine life and game-fishing in the clear blue Atlantic waters. Away from the coast and to the island’s interior there are lavascapes and volcanic mountains to explore. A 4x4 vehicle is the best way to discover the treasures that lie ahead including ancient buildings, monuments and archaeological sites.
Child friendly accommodation and places to stay in Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura is especially geared up for families; especially when it comes to accommodation options as there are just so many choices. Look for those facilities that are most important to your family’s needs which will mostly be determined by the ages and number of kids you have with you. Remember that self-catering is always a great way to go as then you have an even greater choice when it comes to feeding the troops!
