Looking for a family holiday that allows you to enjoy lovely weather and breathe in lots of fresh sea air; then how about you take a look at Costa Blanca, Spain for your next family getaway. It’s perfect with more than 300 days of glorious sunshine every year and an average temperature of around 24 degrees Celsius. As I said; simply perfect!
Family days out and attractions in Costa Blanca
Costa Blanca has so many attractions that will truly delight children that you had better be ready to have lots and lots of fun together. Guaranteed!

Do visit giraffes, crocs and other animals at the Rio Safari Zoo, and then take a slippery slide into the swimming pool to cool off!
Then head to the nearby town of Benidorm to see the theme parks including Terra Mitica, Terra Natura and Aqua Natura parks. That’s a lot of animals, nature and thrilling roller coaster rides!
There’s also windsurfing, kite surfing, water skis, scuba diving, sailing and other activities on the beaches to keep those water babies and water sport enthusiasts occupied! And do try paragliding or rent a sail boat. If sand castle building, swimming and soaking up the lovely Mediterranean sunshine is more your scene; that’s just fine as well! It’s your holiday, and any pace is just right!
Golf anyone? For those keen golfers, there are 14 world class golf resorts.
Perhaps oceanography is your thing; so L'Oceanografic is on the must do list as an underwater voyage to view the secrets and ecosystem of the seas and oceans.
How about a museum, a medieval battle, go-carting, a wax museum or toy museum for starters? Or the Museo de Tortura (Medieval Torture) with exhibits from Medieval times to the 20th century. There are so many activities and sites in Costa Blanca; you will need another visit! Then if you still want more, there’s bowling and a kid’s play zone to keep everyone entertained; or for a glimpse into the past visit Casa Tipica which showcases everyday life dating back to the18th Century.
Child friendly accommodation and places to stay in Costa Blanca
When holidaying with children it is important to take their needs into thought when it comes to accommodation, and self-catering is always worth considering. Smooth sailing when it comes to family holidays is more often about space, time out and choices; and let’s face it; parents and kids definitely get on better if everyone gets a good night’s sleep. Separate bedrooms where you can at least take five away from them once in a while is a really good idea. Let’s keep it real, after riding the roller coaster ten times in a row or slipping down one too many water slides; you may just want to stretch out quietly without kids climbing all over you! How about a stolen cuddle with your lovely partner?
Family restaurants and local cuisine
The main characteristic of the local cuisine is fresh ingredients combined quite simply to create delicious family style cooking. Besides meat, poultry, game, and fish entrees; beans, rice, eggs, vegetables, and savoury pies feature strongly on the menu. Tapas; small morsels or appetizers are available at all hours and are an important part of the food culture. Their size is perfect for kids! Did you know that a bomboneria is a candy shop? Bet they remember that one! You can always buy excellent fresh fruits and vegetables at the local markets and cook up a feast in your own kitchen!

A typical Spanish dining pattern begins with a light breakfast at 8 a.m.; a mid-morning breakfast at 11 a.m.; tapas at 1 p.m. with a three-course lunch following at 2 to 3 p.m.; a merienda for tea and pastries or a snack at 5 to 6 p.m.; evening tapas at 8 p.m. or later, and a three-course supper at 10 p.m. That’s a lot of food and eating!
