Family Days Out in Carmarthenshire
|
Known within the country as ‘The Garden of Wales’, Carmarthenshire is a wonderful and beautiful region to bring the family for a day out. And given its nickname it seems only appropriate to recommend The National Botanic Garden of Wales which houses an impressive visitor centre as well as a botanical research and conservation area. Not to mention the world’s largest single-span glasshouse. The site offers an awful lot for visiting families with any dino-kids sure to be impressed by their Dinosaur Trail, the Roots and Shoots Adventure Zone for those children looking for a play area and also their Wild Bunch Club for any youngsters between 5 and 16 years old. Another beautiful place to head with the family in Carmarthenshire is the Dylan Thomas Boat House which is where the writer spent the last years of his life and was inspired to write his famous poem ‘Under Milk Wood’. Inside you’ll find a number of really interesting exhibits about the local area and detailing the life of one of Wales’ most famous poets. Another great place to head with the family is the Merlin Hill Centre a working farm where you can get close to the animals and watch the cows being milked from the viewing gallery. Make sure you take the time to walk up the hill as well where, legend has it, the great wizard himself is said to be buried. Merlin or no Merlin, come to Carmarthenshire for a magical family day out! |
