Family Days Out in Colchester

Colchester, the oldest recorded town in Britain, is a great destination for a family day out. Capital of Roman Britain for a time, Colchester has a rich history and is a town filled with great places to visit as a family. Top of the list is Colchester Zoo which has an amazing array of animals from all around the globe. Watch sea lions float and swim above your heads at Playa Patagonia see penguins paddle on Penguin Shores. Big cat fans will love Tiger Taiga and Leopards at Ussuri Falls where they can watch some of the rarest of these beasts at play. There are fantastic shows on every day where you can get to meet some of the animals and their keepers and learn about their natural environments (The animals that is. Not the keepers!) You’ll find a whole host of more domestic animals in High Woods Country Park a beautiful open space and home to all manner of rabbits, squirrels and a variety of birds. A visit during spring or summer is particularly inviting with a whole range of unusual and attractive wildflowers that really brighten the woodlands. And if animals and flowers aren’t really exciting the kids then perhaps Indikart will satisfy any mini petrol-heads you’ve got. Ideal for children over 8yrs old Indikart really is great 4-wheeled entertainment!
