Family Days Out in Durham

Come to Durham for your next family day out and discover an array of family friendly destinations. Famed for its 11th century Norman castle, Durham is a city with a rich history and numerous enlightening museums and tours that bring that history to life. Durham Castle is in fact still in use as residence for many students at Durham University but it remains open for guided tours of the historic grounds and the amazing halls and rooms inside. Opposite the castle sits the impressive Durham Cathedral, another Norman building that together with the castle has been designated UNESCO World Heritage Site status and is widely regarded as one of the best examples around the globe of Norman architecture. But it’s not all history in Durham and if you’ve got any little motorheads in your brood then why not take them down to the city’s own Top Gear Karting where you can don The Stig’s white helmet, take to the track and race to your heart’s content!
