Hengrove Play Park overview
The largest FREE Play Park in the South of England certainly deserves a place in our Childfriendly Days Out section, particularly as Hengrove Play Park is not only the biggest but also one of the ...
most exciting. Its most arresting feature is the high dome, which houses the jungle play experience. There are sand, water, slide and climbing play areas for younger children and rinks for skateboarders, skaters and BMX riders. There’s also a pleasant cafe from which you can sit and keep an eye on all their frenetic activity!

A great place to bring kids of all ages. We tend to choose somewhere to sit and stay there, then the kids can come and go as they like. Both the grounds and play equipment are all very clean and well looked after. The climbing dome is brilliant but also very safe. The kids love playing on this and it hasn’t been too busy when we have been there (we go at the weekends rather than the school holidays). If they want to play in the sand/water play areas we usually put them in their swimming things. We always take a picnic and then get ice-creams from the café there. Highly recommended!

Hengrove Play Park

Hengrove play park is a brilliant place to take the kids, not least because it’s free. The jungle dome has 12m of suspended walkways, slides and tunnels which are fairly high up. My son (7yrs) can spend ages just playing on this.
There are separate areas for toddlers, sand and water play, teenagers and also a challenge zone with some cool equipment (i.e. a giant hamster wheel).
For the older ones there is a great skate park for skateboarders, bmxs and even scooters. This can get quite busy but the children behaved really well when we were there.
There is a café serving hot food, drinks and ice creams plus child-friendly toilets. You can also eat your own food in the picnic area.
You can definitely spend a morning or afternoon here. There’s not a lot of shelter though so it’s best to come on a dry day.
