Legoland Windsor overview

Most children have been exposed to the Lego experience and have built, with great expenditure of time and effort, a rather dubious aeroplane or dodgy railway station. Here at Legoland in its ... child-orientated theme park, you can really see what can be accomplished if unlimited quantities of Lego blocks are available! Legoland also features spectacular rides and attractions, daily shows and activities as well as delightful gardens and parkland. You can now stay at Legoland Windsor at the Legoland Resort Hotel which opened in March 2012.

Goodish time

10 Apr 2012
Visited with: Child
I visited in 2007 with my then 7yr old daughter. She really enjoyed it at the time and had a great time. The ques where quite long, however not as bad as disneyland paris. However the new rides which were supposed to be opened that summer had been delayed, which was a disappointment. Also, keep a good eye on your children if they go 'panning for gold' as my daughter spilt the water over her self (v. funny). We are considering going again this year with 2 12yr olds and a 10yr old (all girls) however we're not sure if it would be worth it/if they'd enjoy it so any ideas on whether they would or would't would be much appreciated---please email to flickflick04@gmail.com.

Great for younger families

12 Nov 2011
Visited with: Infant, Child
We started taking our toddler to Legoland with a Merlin pass when he was about a year old. We thought that this might be a little young, but in our experience Legoland really is perfect for younger families. There are plenty or rides which very young children and even babies can go on, and even without the rides there is still plenty to see. Our toddler could spend ages looking at all the models in Miniland, especially those with moving cars and trains. A nice quiet area is the Build and Test Workshops where you can play with larger Lego bricks and get away from the crowds (or the rain!) for a little while. There are also lots of models around the park, and several different themed play areas, including a water one. It's really worth it if you can visit on a quieter day away from school holidays and weekends, as although there are plenty of rides they can be rather slow loading and queues can quickly build up.

Legoland Windsor

We went to Legoland for the second time this year with our two, aged 1 and 3. We went in term-time, late July, and were pleasantly surprised as it was not that busy - the longest wait was around 40 minutes but some rides we walked straight on (such as the Fairytale Brook and the carousel). The 3 year old got by far the most out of it and loved everything, as well as the rides she spent ages pottering about looking at all the Lego models. And we spent a long time at the playground with the climbing frames and slides. We ate at the pizza and pasta buffet, the buffet style makes it easy to choose what you want but the selection was a bit limited. There were pots of baby food as well although we didn't try those, our baby was too big! It is expensive though, we were fortunate to get a very good deal on the tickets, I wouldn't have wanted to pay full price! And if the park had been busier it would have seemed terrible value. Very important to choose a quiet day if you can. But little ones will love it.

A fantastic day out

We visited Legoland in September 2011 and had a great day! There is so much to see and do that you can spend hours and hours here! Our child is nearly 2 so there is a few rides that he can go on - a favourite was the boat ride ("Boating School") where he got to steer the boat round the course. It was a lot of fun! New for this year is also Atlantis Submarine Voyage which was great and a real hit with our child! Another hit with the whole family was "Miniland" which is where the Lego is used to create miniature landmark buildings from around the world. The detail is incredible and we spent quite a bit of time pointing out different things to our son - who loved looking at all the moving parts. The London scene is particularly good! I would say the park mostly suits children who are a bit older than our son (20 months) was at the time but there were still lots for us to see and do. There were also a few childfriendly aspects that we particularly liked which included the family toilets - whole rooms with baby change, adult and child toilet and room for a buggy - an excellent idea and certainly saved us a lot of hassle - they were also very clean. We also saw when we arrived that you could hire a pushchair - this certainly would have proved a good idea and the children seemed to love them as they were shaped like cars! There were plenty of places to eat - we opted for the pizza and pasta buffet restaurant and it was free for our child to eat there (under 3's eat free). The food was surprisingly good and there was lots of different salad, pasta and pizza options. Our son loved the breadsticks! We also noticed that children eat for £1 after 3pm which is a good little tip! Around the park, they have obviously thought about potential things that may cause your child to "meltdown" - i.e in the queues to the rides are lego stations that the children can play with along the queue route. These were also in the restaurant areas. All - in all - there is something for everyone and was a great family day out. The only negatives we found was that the park was extremely busy and therefore all of the rides had long queues. I would advise any parents to take something to keep your child occupied along the queue route or use the Q bot system so you dont have to queue (although this is charged separately to the main ticket price).

go in term-time!

25 Aug 2010
Visited with: Child
Luckily we came during term time, and on a day that wasn't scorching hot, so it wasn't too crowded. The queue was long nevertheless - tricky with an excited 3-yr old in tow. Once inside, we went to the model cities which my son found fascinating because there were moving trains involved. Couldn't tear him away... They were amazing, when you consider how they're made. Such detail. The best bit for us was the water splash area, where they can run in and out of various water fountains on hot days. We'd brought swimming things and a change of clothes, luckily. We found several things we coldn't go on as my son was to young, but we enjoyed a handful of rides, such as the monorail and a train ride, and there's a gently boat ride, too. We brought a picnic so I can't comment on the food outlets but we did have a fabulous ice cream - the queue was enormous, however. For older children they do shows and things in the central area, often involing characters from TV/films, but my son was too young really, and the area gets very crowded and we couldn't really see. We had the chance to go back this summer, with a discount voucher, but still the price is prohibitive, and would have been crowded, so we opted not to go - says it all really.

Legoland

We went to Legoland with my daughter who is 4 and she had the time of her life. It is not cheap to get in but the price is justified when you look at the amazing displays, look out for the display of London, it’s truly amazing! One of her favourite rides was ‘The Viking River Splash’ but probably best to leave this one until the end as you will get very wet. Luckily, there are some great blow dryers, basically, you stand in a cubicle and get completely dried! There are so many rides, but unfortunately we didn’t get to do all of them as the queues were pretty long. I think we will stay overnight next time to ensure we get to do everything. There are loads of eating establishments but do be prepared to pay a lot for your food! My daughter had a truly amazing day, which I know will stay in her memory forever, highly recommended!

You'll Find Something For Children From Birth to Teens

My daughter is only 1 but we have taken her to Legoland twice. At 3 months old she was unable to go on ANY of the rides because she was unable to sit up unaided. that didn't stop us having fun - she loved watching all of the other children shouting and having fun and she was totally mesmerised by all the windmills, boats and trains in the mini-Europe Lego display. At 12 months she was able to go on several of the rides. The train, the boat rides (there are at least 2), the playground, the big wheel and even the Laser Raiders where we shot some baddies together. I find the toilets, the accessibility and the displays all well thought out in terms of provision for children and parents. There are plenty of baby chaging facilities and most rides have a buggy park area (although they aren't normally big enough). The entrance is extortionate but you can almost always find special offers and if you are likely to go more than once in a year, an annual pass is good value and gives you a discount in the cafes and the car park (which you now have to pay £1 for). The food and drink throughout the park is overpriced and is almost all fast food that is unsuitable for very young children but there are lots of quiet and secluded spots even in the summer where you can sit and have a family picnic. In general I find Legoland expensive, but surprisingly good value for the price.

Legoland Early July

07 Jul 2010
Visited with: Child
We deliberatly picked a school day to take the boys (ages 4 and 5) to Legoland and even so, it was pretty busy. We took the hill train to the centre of the park and started on the rides. The great thing about Legoland is that there is something for the younger child and lots of rides you can go on as a family. The boys got their driving licence and had a brilliant time. We left the water rides till later in the day and the queues on the pirate falls were far too long for us to wait in. We got a refillable drink cup at the entrance to the park for £6.00, which is really good value, as we filled it up at least 10 times (it was very hot), but food it not the best value or quality and if we lived nearer I would take a picnic every time. We ended the day in Duploland at the splash play area. I had packed a towel and the boys UV suits, which is a must, as they ran off some of their energy for an hour whilst me and MadDad had a cup of tea and rested our feet. I was shocked to find that you also need to get a £1.00 car park ticket upon leaving, in addition to the £25,00 entry for each of us. I was also disappointed to see that they are paid attractions (trampolining at £5 each) over and above the entry fee. We went to the Clutch Powers 4 D show and the boys adored it, the effects were excellent and it was a great way to spend 30 minutes out of the sun. My tips, get there early, take water clothes and a picnic

Good but too pricey

03 Jul 2010

There were 4 of us - 2 adults, 2 2yr olds (free), and we had a bogof voucher. £38 still felt a lot for the 4 of us. The kids had a great time, though it is hard to navigate and it feels like it takes ages to get anywhere. The water park bit in duploland was fantastic - definitely remember swimming costumes. I would recommend checking their website for vouchers before you go - we found one for free adult meals with kid meals at 1 restaurant - so lunch was a bargain. Wouldn't go again unless I had bogof vouchers - too pricey.

Was not impressed at all, went on a week day but still too busy. the ques were just to long the shortest wait time was 45mins, which was very hard or a 3 and 5yr old to understand why they couldn't go straight on the rides. The longest wait we saw was 2hrs. I also think it is very expensive to get in. I think the park should have a pay by hight fee. I will not be recomending legoland to any of my friends.

A WET DAY AT WINDSOR LEGOLAND

04 Jun 2010
Visited with: Child, Teenager
We took our three children ages: 17, 11 and 10 to legoland for the weekend. We all absolutely loved the place and got very wet on the log flume and other water rides! The weather was glorious too. Food available is the usual fast food style and we bought 2 souvenir drinks containers for £6 each but were able to refil fo free throughout the whole 2 days we were at the park, which saved a fortune on drinks!! Best to go during the week (we took our kids out of school for 1 day )which was worthwhile doing as we were able to walk straight onto the rides, unlike the following day (saturday) when we had to queue for approx 45 - 1 hour in the swealtering heat - not good!! the mini land is fab and the whole park is ideal for all the family.

As good as ever!!

Went with my three children to Legoland last week and what a fantastic time we had. Queue was quite long to enter as we had not pre-booked but it was worth it! First ride we tried out was the new Viking ship. My youngest said 'no-way' so it was up to mum and elder daughter to try it out!! If you imagine a swing going at 100 times the speed and height then you have kind of got the idea! There was a two hour wait for the log flume so we braved the queues for the Fairytale Brook which was delightful. Que-bots are hugely annoying (the machines that allow people to jump ahead of you) and quite unfair. many cannot afford to purchase these on top of the park entrance fee. The great side of Legoland is that nearly all the rides are suitable for the younger ones so you do not have to trek miles to find a suitable ride. My youngest loved the water rides the most (don't forget your waterproofs or you will need to pay 2.00 to dry off!!) Love the Lego villages...surely a child's dream job! This is our 3/4th visit and it did not disappoint. Fantastic!

They love it. I hate it. It’s vast and full of things to get them exhausted and interested but if you don’t go on a cloudy Thursday in term time in February you can’t hear yourself think. The introduction of a Disneyland style ticketing system for the rides has really improved things though and there are lots of out of the way stuff you end up doing if you try to avoid the mega crowded bit that end up being great – try the explorer’s Institute. But it has to be said the Pirate Falls is worth the wait – the photo we have of ours shooting the rapids in total terror is a classic.

we picked the wrong day

02 Apr 2010
Visited with: Child
We made the mistake of going on a teacher training day thinking the park would be empty but obviously many other schools had the same thing so it turned out to be incredibly busy. We arrived around 11.30 and even had to queue to get into the car park. This was quite disappointing after a long journey to get there. Once inside the rides had around a half an hour wait for each one so during the day we only managed to get on about six rides. With a young child queuing for anything is quite difficult. Having said that I think he enjoyed the experience of being there and we would try to go again in term time.

Legoland Windsor

Legoland Windsor is a brilliant place to take kids. It is quite easy to get to as it is well signposted off of the M4 and has good parking. There are a variety of rides for children of all ages (as well as adults!) which are categorised according to height or age. My son’s particular favourite is L-Drivers which is for children aged 3-5 and where kids get to drive little lego cars around a track and get a lego licence for doing so. There are plenty of places to eat and clean toilets and changing areas there are also lots of shops selling lego! The one warning I would give about Legoland however, is if you are planning to visit in the summer holidays make sure you get there early as it gets really busy.

Great time had by all

26 Mar 2010

I visited legoland outside the school holidays which I think if you can is one of the golden rules! The park itself is great although there is so much to do that one visit is not enough. The range of rides is really good & there's something for everyone, although there are height restrictions on some of the rides so very little children are excluded in some areas. My biggest tip would be to bring you own food, the cost of buying food in the park is extortionate, where as is you have your own picnic then you do save quite a bit. We ate ours sitting around the central arena watching a pirate show - which was really enjoyable! If you're likely to visit often, the passes are worth getting as you save a lot with them, otherwise it does feel expensive!

Legoland is open!!

20 Mar 2010

There is excitement in the air as Legoland opens its doors once more for season 2010! No doubt the rain will not stop a host of tiny feet and parental tired feet from whizzing around this great Lego-based theme park. Guarantee fun for all ages, Legoland does not disappoint. I have been with my toddler and two teens and a great time was had by all. We particularly loved the James Bond-style water shooter ride where we are required to stand as water is sprayed at us! Great family fun. There is a new revamped Pirate Area launched this year...a certain hit for the kids and for parents who can remember good old captain Hook! Our firm favourite has to be just looking at the Lego creations, a job most of us would love to have and create. As if this all isn't enough treat the family with hot-dogs and popcorn, a sure winner to forget about the rain!! Overall, a top day out for any age and highly recommended.

Awesome family fun!

The children would have stayed in the Big Lego shop just past the entrance all day if we had let them! And that is before they caught sight of any of the awesome rides! Legoland does not have an age limit on it! No way! My youngest was desperate to gain his Legoland drivers license after his friend had told him all about it. Watching him take part in the Driving School was priceless, I was laughing tears! The Imagination Theatre was another of his favourites. We all got splashed in the 4D adventure! The Gaming Zone was like a home from home! and I could have pitched up a tent outside The Enchanted Forest as my youngest, given the opportunity would have played on the slides and climbing frames for days! (it did look a climbers paradise though!). With lots of food courts and refil drink stations we didn't have long to queue. The toilets we all easily sign posted too. We picked up a free map on the way in which became our bible. We purchased our 2 day break online via Legoland which included nearby hotel accomodation too. We thought the whole deal was great value. We did all came away with great memories of a break full of family fun. Can not recommend this enough!

Legoland

12 Mar 2010

We visited on a day our kids school was closed which meant less crowds and not too much queuing for rides. The children were aged between 6 and 8 and had a huge choice of things to do, probably too much to do in one day. Popular rides were the new Laser Raiders ride and the Jungle Coaster. We chose to ate sandwiches on benches near the Rat Trap so the kids could run off and play on the climbing frame once they had finished. There are plenty of other eating options though from fast food to pizzas to salads. As they began to tire we stopped to watch the ‘Johny Thunder’ show which was very enjoyable. Then it was off to the water rides, even with raincoats on we still got pretty wet – its worth taking a change of trousers if you can carry them or some pound coins for the dryer. You can’t avoid the gift shops as there are many of them, our children loved the ‘pick a brick’ which is like a pic and mix of different lego bricks. Expensive day out but excellent value for money, even better if you can get your tickets using tesco vouchers.

Legoland, Windsor

24 Nov 2009
Visited with: Child
We visited Legoland a few days ago with our five year old daughter. Although she had a great time, it was very expensive considering the number of rides we actually managed to get on. There was a 45 minute wait for some of the rides which then only lasted about 2 minutes. The qbots that people are using (at a cost of £10 per person) are making the queue worse as it comes to a standstill when the people with qbots turn up. We wouldnt recommend going during the holidays as they let far too many people in with no regard for how long the queues are likely to get. Having said all that, our daughter had a great day, although she would have been just as happy playing in the water area all day (take a swimsuit for your child if its a nice day)

Legoland

We took our young granddaughters (one is four and one is 20 months) to Legoland and had a great day out! It was perfect for us, as the rides were more gentle than those at other theme parks so we could all go on them. It was also very clean and well organised with good bathroom facilities for young children (child size toilets and hand baisins) – we brought our own food and used the picnic facilities. However, the girls were too small to last a full day at the park and, as they were slow and the queues were quite long, we only made it to 25% of the park. This made it seem expensive for the amount of time we spent there and we would have loved to buy a ticket for a family with very young kids that split the day over two days and let us enjoy the whole park! Definitely worth a visit!

Legoland at Easter

30 Apr 2009
Visited with: Infant, Child
I’d agree with the other reviewers. I went with my family to Legoland on an extremely packed day during the Easter holidays. We had a really good time – the rides were great for the kids (at 2 and 5yrs, there were lots that they could go on) and there was plenty to capture their imagination. However queues were very long – both for the rides and the food stalls. And their queuing system whereby you can pay to queue jump costs too much for most families to buy and makes it really frustrating when you see others running past while you are queuing for 1 ½ hours – I don’t know why they don’t do what Disney do and make it free for all but with limited use – that seems much fairer. Also, I would really suggest bringing packed lunch and snacks, as you had to queue ½ hour for a hot dog! Having said that it was a great day out and we would go again, just not at Easter time and with our own food!
