No it's not a leftover from the Cornish language, it's the present owner's name spelt backwards, although the recipe can be traced back hundreds of years. The Gray's cheese is made from milk from their own dairy herd in the traditional way, but given a unique outer edible jacket of nettle leaves, which gives it a distinctive flavour. (The leaves are picked locally and frozen to remove the sting). The farm can be visited during the summer months where you will be able to see at first hand how milk from Pedigree Holstein cows is turned into cheese. The adjoining tearoom offers local produce such as Cornish cream teas, nettle soup, and of course their famous cheese. The farm is located in the lush pastures of the Lynher Valley and surrounded by nature trails so you can make it a full day out.
