Chatsworth overview
This has everything you would expect of a Country House which was built for a Duke and occupied by one ever since. Chatsworth is one of the stateliest of all stately homes in England, with just ...
breathtaking architecture both inside and outside. What is also remarkable is the extraordinary care they take to make children welcome. There are separate children's audio guides for the house and an extremely safe outside adventure playground where you are advised to let them play on their own for at least an hour! It provides the perfect example of what to do and where to go for a family day out.

Amazing day out for all of the family, us, the kids and grandparents!
We had a fantastic, and very full, day out at Chatsworth and still need to go back in order to do the bits we missed and re-do the bits we loved!
The grounds are stunning with interesting art work, vast expanses of grass to run about, a cascade we enjoyed climbing(!), a maze - just so much!
Our kids loved the farm and the play area. Kept them entertained while we sipped coffee!
My advise would be just to do the grounds and farm - with kids the house is difficult to get round (very crowded and lots of rooms so tedious for them). The outdoors can keep you busy all day. We'll go back without the kids to see the inside properly...

Chatsworth in Derbyshire is a great place for adults and children alike. It is a magnificent stately home and has lots of places of interest to children such as the house itself and the grounds. There is also a working farmyard where children can see cows, sheep and horses and an adventure playground where children can play in the sand and water areas and go on the ropewalks. There is a farm shop where they can go and see the items produced by the animals in the farm. There are also plenty of places to eat and drink and good toilet and baby changing facilities.
