Paignton Zoo Environmental Park overview

Gone are the days when you viewed a couple of tired looking elephants or a few bedraggled zebra behind railings in concrete enclosures...thankfully! Now zoos like this make every effort to duplicate ... the natural habitats of the many species on display. Paignton Zoo has been especially successful at this partly because of its fortunate climate, which provides an almost tropical environment for many of its landscapes. All of which contributes to the enjoyment of your family day out.

Animal Magic!

Paignton zoo is a must see attraction for any family in the Devon area. We were simply overwhelmed by the sheer number of different animals contained in this zoo convieniently located in the coastal town of Paignton. There were more weird and wonderful animals than you could 'shake a stick at' and we wish we had allocated more time as four hours wasn't enough to make the most of all that was on offer. We really liked the different zones contained within it such as the tropical area, the ape centre and the farm area. We especially enjoyed the desert area which consisted of desert terrain, plants, animals and birds and instantly transported us to another country! Personal highlights, were the Gorillas, the Tigers, the Red Panda and the Baboons. Our little girl loves Monkeys and there were loads of different monkeys for her to enjoy (even if they were getting up to some monkey business!). We also enjoyed meeting the goats in the farm area, which made a good attempt of eating the buggy and our daughters crisps! To top our day off we enjoyed a lovely cream tea (a Devon essential!) in the sunshine which was very reasonably priced and was the perfect end to the perfect day. We found the staff at the zoo very friendly and they made us feel very welcome. I would thoroughly recommend this zoo to any family as it is the best zoo that me and my family have visited.

Glorious zoo set over acres of land. Brilliant new crocodile/alligator enclosure. Plenty of places to stop and have a picnic. Playgrounds for children. Plenty of walking to wear little ones out! One of the best zoos we have visited and as it is down the road from the in laws we keep going back!
