Hylands Park overview

Hylands Park in Hornchurch is situated at the Romford end of Osborne Road. It is a surprisingly large park in the middle of a residential area but it backs onto people’s gardens as opposed to any ... roads and so is safe from cars etc. There’s a large grassy area with a wide oval shaped path around it, which is perfect for children to ride their bikes and scooters. The park has tennis courts and a cricket pitch and a big children’s play area with equipment for children ranging from toddlers to young teenagers, including a number of climbing frames, slides, swings, see-saws and roundabouts. This play area is fenced off from the rest of the park and dogs are not allowed in it. There is also an outside gym area for teenagers and adults. There is no cafe in the park, nor are there any toilets, although the park is visited by an ice-cream van in the summer months.

Hylands Park

04 May 2010
Visited with: Infant, Child
We recently took six children to Hylands Park and they all really enjoyed it. They particularly enjoyed the children’s play area. This is very large and fenced off from the rest of the park to protect the children from dogs. We had children with us aged from 1-5 and there was something for all of them there, including climbing frames for toddlers and older children, slides, monkey bars, swings, two roundabouts and an assault course. There are no toilets in the park which could cause potential problems to visitors and neither is there a permanent refreshment stand, there was however an ice-cream van which I believe is there during the weekends and holidays in the summer months.
