Promenade Park overview
Promenade Park in Maldon runs alongside the banks of the River Blackwater. It is quite a large site and has its own car park, although there is a charge for this. Family attractions include the ...
Splash Park for older children, where they can paddle and play (the splash park is not open all year round) and also the ‘Galleon’ , a large wooden boat moored in sand with climbing frames, ropes and slides. For younger children there is a small sand pit area and a playground with swings and slides. Refreshment kiosks in the park sell a variety of hot and cold food and drinks as well as ice creams and there are also a number of toilet and baby changing facilities. There is also the pub nearby which welcomes children.

When this first opened it was free with no time limit, but now you pay. Very very busy in the school holidays .
So packed. You are on a time limit. we arrived after lunch about 2pm and were told we had to wait for next session 3.40 to get in. Each £1 session lasts half an hour £2 minimum. Car park charges to add to that. We don't mind the costs but to be limited to a timetable is ridiculous.
The pirate ship is great with all the sand to play with it's safe but too big for under threes unless you climb up with them. The cafes were lovely but Next time I'll take kids to the coast.

Promenade Park in Maldon is a great place for kids. There is a large grassy area where you can play ball games, a splash park, the 'Galleon' which is a large pirate ship themed climbing frame which is 'moored' in sand and a children's playground with swings and slides. You can also enjoy a walk along the riverside and there are a number of places you can buy snacks and ice creams from. There is also a large car park (although you have to pay to park) and there are plenty of toilet facilities. My children really enjoy spending the day there.
