Clockhouse Gardens overview

Clockhouse Gardens in Upminster used to be part of the New Place Estate, which was owned by the Esdaile Family. All that is left of the estate today is the stable block dating from 1775, which has ... now been converted into flats and the formal gardens and pond. There is a small car park at the entrance to the Gardens, but this is mainly for inhabitants of the flats (although there are some public spaces available) you can, however, park quite easily in the nearby streets. The Gardens have a large pond, which is home to swans, geese, ducks and other wildlife and the pond is fenced off making it safe for children. A pathway runs around the length of the pond and there are a number of benches for visitors. There is a bowling green next to the Gardens, which are accessed by the Gardens and are home to the Upminster Bowling Club. There are no refreshment or toilet facilities in the Gardens themselves but these are available in the nearby Upminster town centre.

Clockhouse Gardens

Clockhouse Gardens in St Mary’s Lane, Upminster is a nice place to take children for an hour or so. It used to be a grand home and all that is left of it now is the gardens and the former stables which have been converted into flats. There is a large pond in the centre of the gardens with ducks, swans and fish which is fenced off so it is safe for children to feed them. There is also a pathway all around the pond which has a number of benches where people can sit. There is an area around the far side of the pond where a number of characters have been carved out of wood and are arranged so that children can play amongst them.
