The Manchester Wheel overview
The Manchester Wheel is such a fun way for the family to see the whole city and its surrounds. The slow rotation of the wheel, right in the heart of Manchester, has a guided commentary pointing out ...
all the main attractions. Choose a good day and enjoy the views!
Great, if you're not scared of heights...

When my parents came to visit we decided to take them and the kids on the Manchester 'Eye'. We didn't have to queue for very long, and the fare was reasonable I thought.
The Wheel provided fantastic views across the city - in fact as I'm not a mancunian I didn't realise that Strangeways prison really is right in the heart of the city until I saw it from the wheel! You could see right out of the city and into the Pennines which is where we now live - I found the whole thing quite fascinating, as did my three year old son. He wasn't phased by the height of the wheel, which is more than can be said for my other half who kept his feet planted firmly on tarmac below with our baby daughter! A good use of half an hour.

The Manchester Wheel

The Manchester Wheel is located in Exchange Square, Manchester, in the heart of the tourist district of Manchester city centre. The wheel is like a mini version of the London Eye. It is 60 metres high it has 42 capsules each of which seats up to 8 people and can be air conditioned or heated depending on the weather outside. The wheel allows you to have a unique view of Manchester and the surrounding area. The one thing to bear in mind if you are taking children on the wheel though is that it is not really suitable for buggies so you will probably have to leave them at the bottom and carry any children on board.
