Osborne House overview
You may think that owning a holiday home is a recent phenomenon but Queen Victoria thought of it first! She described her Osborne House as; Impossible to imagine a prettier spot. Well she was right ...
about the spot, it is still beautiful and your family will enjoy exploring the fabulous interiors and beautiful grounds of her holiday home (palace!). Children will also love the Swiss Cottage with its child-size furniture and they can let off steam in the play area. You can also have a horse and carriage ride. Unsurprisingly this is one of the main tourist attractions in the Isle of Wight. Queen Victoria, no doubt, would not be amused.

I visited Osbourne House with family and enjoyed every second there. There is so much to see, admire and learn. Although my young son did not enjoy looking around he was happy in the gardens and childs play area. The cafe offered a good selection of hot and cold bites. The walk aound the gardens to the swiss cottage is delightful but long and there is a shuttle bus service avaliable for those less mobile or tiring. All the staff are helpful and informative making it relaxed and easy to enjoy.

We took our son to Osborne House in the Isle of Wight and really enjoyed ourselves. The house has lots to offer for adults and older children (our son was 3 at the time and so didn't really appreciate it) with tours of the Queen's bedroom, the nursery and the Dunbar Room. There are massive grounds to the House which can also be explored - you can visit the Swiss Chalet which was designed for Queen Victoria's children and also children can play in the designated play area (which our son appreciated the most!) which has climbing areas and slides.
