Footscray Meadows, Sidcup

Footscray Meadows overview

The River Cray runs through these meadows and then turns into a beautiful lake at Five Arches Bridge. It is a real lovely walk along the river and very popular for horse riding and dog walkers, the dogs do love a dip in the clear shallow waters. The children’s play area is well equipped for all ages and has some really good stuff including a giant tyre swing, a toddler-climbing frame, a zip ... wire, swings, a roundabout, a climbing frame for older kids and much more! Foots Cray Meadows is great for a family BBQ or a picnic in the park as there are acres of meadows and fields. Do keep in mind that there are no toilets but there is a public house near the Water Lane entrance for those little emergencies. There are plenty of parking spaces around Foots Cray Meadows and also street parking if you enter from the North Cray Road.

Footscray Meadows

We have just returned from a lovely morning at Footscray Meadows also known as 5 Arches. We took a leisurely stroll along the river Cray watching all the dogs taking a dip in the shallow clear waters. We soon came to a footbridge, which took us to a super children’s play area with a separate section for ball games with basket ball nets. It looked like it was very new and had some really fun equipment. The children especially liked the huge tyre swing and my 2 year old son loved the toddlers climbing frame. The Park really is quite beautiful and peaceful, we walked back on the other side of the river through the woods and eventually reached 5 Arches Bridge where the river turned into a stunning lake. We thoroughly enjoyed our morning and the children were more than warn out when we got back to the car! Highly recommended!
