Spa Valley Railway overview

A Day Out with Thomas is a dream come true for all those Thomas fans out there. Meet the fat controller at The Spa Valley Railway in Tunbridge wells and then board the hourly train that is pulled by ... one of Thomas’s good friends (Thomas stays at Tonbridge Wells to ensure everyone gets to meet him). The train journey takes aprox 45 minutes with fun entertainment along the way and a special present for each of the children. The train stops at Groombridge station so it’s advisable to get off for a perfect photo opportunity. Once back at the Spa Valley railway, there are some fun activities for the children, punch and Judy, Thomas stories, a mini cinema and not to forget meeting Thomas’s friends; Percy, Duck, Daisy, Diesel and Jinty! Watch Thomas hard at work shunting trucks and have a go on the miniature railway. There is a buffet car for refreshments and a gift shop with all the Thomas toys you could imagine! A Day out with Thomas is a real family treat!

Day out with Thomas

Day out with Thomas is an absolute must for all Thomas fans. We told my daughter that we were going to meet the real Thomas and she didn’t believe us until we got there and then she did!! My two-year-old had the time of his life. You are greeted by the ‘Fat Controller’ on the plat form (he really does look like the fat controller)!! You then take a ride on the train pulled by one of Thomas’s friends. The staff come round with gifts for the children and there is a very entertaining guy making hats, swords, you name it, out of balloons. You stop at Groombridge station for a cup of tea and photo opportunity and then head back to Tonbridge wells. Once you finish the train ride you can go and meet Thomas and some of his friends in the sheds. There is lots of other stuff going on too, like Punch and Judy, a mini cinema, games and a Thomas rail set to play with. My two thoroughly enjoyed it!! Its quite pricey but makes a fantastic treat. Oh, there is a miniature train that you can ride on too!
