Bremetenacum Veteranorum (no wonder they changed the name to Ribchester) was the name of the Roman fort over which this museum is built. If your family lives in the area you many well be interested in what life was like for the Romans garrisoned here 2000 years ago. Their story is vividly displayed with the help of life size Cavalrymen, Roman Legionary and exciting interactive exhibits. Exhibits include weaponry, jewellery, leatherwork, and impressive sculptures. Parts of the original fort are also open to view.
