The Parrot Zoo overview
With their brilliant outrageous colours, mesmeric eyes and the odd rude word,
parrots cannot fail to be a hit with kids. ‘The Parrot Zoo’ holds UK’s largest
collection of these birds, ...
together with a few other related species. The whole
gang is here from the Greater Vasa parrot, which is the worlds biggest, to Macaws and cockatoos. It’s just the place to learn a little more about this interesting species by getting up close and benefiting from the knowledge of the professional keepers.

A lovely place to take children of all ages, especially the walk through aviary (where the parrots fly freely and like to land on you!) A lot of the parrots here have been rescued and although you can see what has happened such as baldness from over plucking there are clear signs explaining everything and are very educational. There are also Marmoset Monkey's and Meercats, the meercat enclosure has 'windows' for little children to see through and my son who is 14 months was entranced by them. They also have toilets (be warned the parrots can get in so be careful!) and a cafe and gift shop which is reasonably priced. There is also a play area and benches around. In my opinion it is quite small and you do go round it quickly but if I was ever in the area I would definately pay another visit. Entrance fee £6.95 under 3 Free up to 15 years £5.95.
