Platform 9 3/4 overview
Platform 9 3/4 is a replica platform from the Harry Potter series of books and films, located outside of Kings Cross Station.
The platform is mainly a photograph scene for fans of the franchise ...
to have the opportunity of having their photograph taken appearing to be moving through onto the magical platform to board the Hogwarts Express.
Although there is a Platform 9 3/4 within Kings Cross Station, as the JK Rowling novels suggest, fans who are not using the station to board trains are encouraged to use this platform outside of the main train station. This is mainly due to the volume of traffic on the platform which, in peak season, causes health and safety concerns.
The attraction usually has a short queuing time and is generally supervised. Fans are not charged for using the area.
Big disappointment

My little boy has recently started watching the Harry Potter films and I thought while we were in London I'd take him along to Platform 9 3/4. He's only three, but it's a really magical and memorable part of the film which he loves.
I needed a picture, but really... what a waste of time! I won't be returning with my son. Because of the amount of pedestrian traffic on the platform, they have erected a 'fake' platform 9 3/4 outside of Kings Cross Station for those who want their photographs taken going through to the Hogwarts Express Platform.
There was a short queue for this photograph opportunity but nothing to moan about, but I suppose it is because it's not really worth having your photo taken there at all. It doesn't resemble the platform in the films and if I had travelled any further than Manchester (on a direct train) to visit this attraction I'd have been REALLY upset. Not one for true Potter fans.
Free attraction - but really it has to be, I can't imagine they'd get away with charging people. Even in the Harry Potter hype... it's appalling.
