Merseyside Maritime Museum overview

Smuggling, slavery, sinking ships, sailing and scary sea stories; they are all exhibited here in displays especially appealing to children. Liverpool was a great seaport, once the busiest in England, ... and it is difficult to imagine how its fascinating story could have been better told than in this evocative museum. Try not to miss it.

Visited with: Child
The kids were excited about the huge model ships and my older daughter wanted to listen to the audio commentary with the videos. There is a small child play area that fascinated my 5 and 3 yr old for about 30 minutes so that my husband and I could take turns wandering around the exhibits leisurely. Much of the exhibit has adult content but there are many milder pictures for talking to younger kids about travel and history.
