Otterspool Park and Promenade, Liverpool

Otterspool Park and Promenade overview

A favourite with kite flyers, cyclists and walkers, Otterspool Park and Promenade makes up a significant park of Liverpool’s world-class water front. The riverside walk with large areas of parklands, including Cressington Park, Fulwood Park and Grassendale Park also takes in a new children’s playground. A walk on the windy side at Otterspool Park and Promenade gives you excellent views of the ... city as well as the sights of Mersey Shipping and the river to the Wirral. The promenade, along the banks of the river Mersey, can begin at Garston Docks and ends in the city centre at the Albert Docks.

Otterspool promenade, and in particular the new playground was a big hit with our two children during our recent trip to Liverpool. Views of the Mersey from the promenade are picture perfect, giving you a great sense of the land and character of this place. Although we didn’t have bicycles with us we might just hire them next time to make the best use of this green space. The playground occupied my three and five year old children despite the rain and wind dampening us all. We would have stayed longer and picnicked but I reckon our sarnies would have been soaked within minutes. My son especially liked the spider’s web climbing frame. We didn’t see any kites flown on our visit yet I’m told that this is the place to fly them on Merseyside, often providing a spectacle in the sky at the weekend. Opposite the playground is Otters Pool café that has toilets you can use. Parking in on the road or you can get the bus of train to Aigburth to enjoy this park and playground.
