The Beatles Story overview

If you are a fan then you dont need any urging to take your next generation to see and hear about this iconic group, so intimately associated with Liverpool. This centre certainly makes it attractive ... for a family visit with their young personís visitor pack to help the kids appreciate how the fabulous music of the Fab Four came about. All you need is a ticket to ride, Yeah Yeah. Happy days!!!

A music museum that gets the kids culturally clued up

My partner and I are great fans of the Beatles and our son was introduced to their music when we was a little baby. At three we decided it would be a good step forward to take our son to the Beatles Story Museum in Liverpool. Before I go any further, he was too young. The museum really needs you to wear headsets and be able to press numbers consistently throughout your time in the museum to appreciate the full value of The Beatles Story. Although averagely priced for an attraction of this kind, it does seem a little like you wouldn't get full value for money should you be constantly giving a numbers lesson to ensure your children appreciate what is going on as much as you do. The history behind the band, at the beginning of the story is enjoyable, really enjoyable, for adults and older children (I would say 6+ at a push) but a little lengthy for young children. The fun kicks in however when you reach the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band era and the Yellow Submarine, which is a really bright and wacky 70's themed part of the museum. This is sensory stimulation gone mad and great for kids. Very entertaining with a lot of interactive features and things like wonky mirrors. There is a new area, a 4D ride a little away from the main Beatles Story museum which would probably be more suited to my son (now four) however we didn't get chance to go to this when we were there. There is a Starbucks and toilets within the attraction and a Beatles store as well. We did see a group of school children using the attraction and I believe there are workshops for older kids. A really fun day out, good value for money, especially if you can get to the 4D area as well. I'd definitely revisit when my son is a few years older.

Beatles Story

My husband and I were very excited to explore the museum. Our 5 yr old got her own audio guide and loved punching in the numbers, listening for a while and looking at the pictures. Our 3 yr old just wanted to run through the whole thing until we found a good song and the Yellow Submarine area with swirling lights. It was a bit fast with the younger one but he was free and I enjoyed it. There is an interactive area at the end but only my 5 yr old enjoyed it, the 3 yr old was a bit overstimulated. The interactive movie at the other Beatles Story museum was definitely worth taking everyone.
