World Museum overview

Step inside and it is wall-to-wall kids and they all seem to be having a great time. This most modern of modern science museums has been designed with them definitely in the forefront. There are ... levers to pull, screens to activate, games to play and exhibits all described for children. This is New Millennium Museum with funky architecture, focus on topical concerns and above all fun.

We have visited this museum numerous times and it never gets boring! We went in a group recently including parents, Auntie's and Uncle's, teenagers, younger children and a baby! There is plenty to do for all ages with all interests. It was particularly great for my 5 year old who is into everything. It is very hands on in parts and gets you involved but it is also informative. There are floors and floors of historical artifacts and there is even room for an aquarium. My only problem with the museum is the food as you only have a couple of choices and they are usually very busy but.....you can come and go as you please and there are plenty of family friendly places to eat nearby. The kids still talk about our museum adventures days after we have visited.

Great Day Out

We visited the museum without planning and were very pleased! We took a 2 year old and 5 year old and both were very entertained the whole time. It's very hands-on in all the areas and the kids loved touching dinosaur bones and watching ants crawl across the insect room. We didn't get into the planitarium, i would recommend booking tickets as soon as you arrive! The kids loved drawing pictures and having them put on the walls. There were lots of little guessing games which my oldest loved, also the treasure hunt around the whole building (asking questions about what you could find) kept them constantly enxcited and wanting to find out more! Considering how educational and exciting this place was it was hard to believe it was a museum! Enjoyed by the whole family.

Free Fun Day Out

Just back home from a day out to the World Museum with 2 children, 9mths and 3 years and the grandparents. Loved it. Not at all stuffy and boring like it used to be, many moons ago! The little ones enjoyed the Aquarium, Plantastic (a new interactive exhibition) and a must was the Planetarium - the Sunshine show for under 5's. Lots of craft stations for the kids to colour and make items for a huge display wall. Tip: book tickets for the shows as soon as you arrive - they become full v quickly. If you can put baby in a carrier/sling, check in the stroller at front desk and use the stairs; the lifts are v v slow and crowded. We took our own lunch and ate in one of the 2 picnic areas. We will definitely visit again.

Science Museum

Had a day out in Liverpool with our two young children and the highlight was definitely the World Science Museum. We read about it on their website and booked for the Planetarium show as soon as we arrived. Inside there were just so many things to do and see and there were lots of other families there. My daughter especially liked the nature section where she could see things like butterfly wings under the microscope. The guides were really friendly and helpful. Best of all was the show on the planets at 4 o’clock, it was just amazing and when we come next time we will book another of their shows. This is just a great museum and not only for children.
