Monkey Buisness

We recently visited Knowsley Safari Park which isn't too far from where we live. We went on a sunny day which was a good idea as all the animals were out and about. We thought the admission was reasonable and the entrance was easily found with clear instructions on driving around the park. We saw lots of animals on our way around the park but our favourite had to be the monkeys as they were climbing all over our car which really made us laugh. A couple of them decided to use our car as a taxi. Once we finished the safari drive we went for a walk around the gift shop, restaurant and fair ground. We watched a seal show which was funny and our 6 year old had a few rides on the fair. There are toilet facilities and the park is easy to push a pram or wheelchair around. It was quite busy due to the weather being good but it wasn't a problem. The food in the restaurant was OK and reasonably priced but we will take a picnic next time. In all a good day out with plenty to do.

A great way for your children to get up close the animals

Knowsley Safari Park is one of the best in the UK. There is such a wide variation of animals roaming free, it really is exciting for little people. Our family personally loved looking at the Baboons and other monkeys jumping on all of the cars. We weren't quite brave enough to take our shiny new car through the monkey area, but that's ok as there's a road to watch from a distance. Those monkey's really were trashing the cars and it certainly caught my little one's attention! Other animals included lions and tigers but also more timid animals such as deer, hogs and oryx - to name but a few. The safari lasted about an hour, but there was plenty of opportunities to stop and watch the animals. No one seemed in a rush and it was nice to move at a relaxed pace and allow my toddler to see all of the animals properly. The highlight of his stay was when a fully grown male lion put his face to my son's window. Very exciting. One tip would be to ensure that your children go to the toilet before you start on the safari because, of course, once you're in there you can't exactly nip out for a wee. Other than the main safari there are other attractions such as rides, sea lion shows, creepy crawlie centres, a farm, and restaurants/gift shops. There's definitely plenty to fill a good days worth of attraction. Children's parties are also available at this attraction, as are group/school visits. The park is open year round and prices start at just £10 per child and £14 per adult. OAPs are also £10. Some extra fees are payable for rides etc. There are plenty of toilets and baby changing areas.

Knowsley Safari Park

A really fabulous and full day out for all of the family - we all absolutely loved it here! There is a huge safari park that you drive around and it is so vast that even on busy days, you don't feel hurried. We drove around really leisurely and it is so nice that you can stop and pause at your favourite animals and obviously, you are seeing them in the wild as it were, making it so much more exciting than a normal zoo visit. You have to follow the route around the park obviously but you are free to drive around as many times as you wish which is great. There is also a part where you do park up your car and walk around and there are lots more animals here - such as sealion house, meerkats, giraffes, elephants.. There is also an amusement park area with rides and a great gift shop and cafe. There are picnic areas too if you prefer to take a picnic along.
