City of Norwich Aviation Museum overview
The informal City of Norwich Aviation Museum is located at the edge of Norwich Airport and is largely run by volunteers and enthusiasts. There are a large number of both old commercial and RAF ...
aircraft outside the museum and it is possible to go inside some aircraft. For a more comprehensive visit it is a good idea to choose an ‘Open Cockpit Day’ of which there are more details on the website: this also has various special offers available. Inside the museum are displays dedicated to the preservation of the Aviation History of Norfolk. Exhibits include the remains of a German aircraft shot down over Norfolk and various guns. There is also a hall devoted to RAF Bomber Command with interesting displays detailing the radio countermeasures taken in East Anglia during WW2. The staff are all aviation enthusiasts who enjoy sharing their knowledge, particularly with children. The City of Norwich Aviation Museum is not open every day, so check their website for further information.

This is a charming little museum located on the edge of Norwich Airport. Just about every item in the museum is linked to Norfolk's role in avaiation over the years. The museum had lots of wonderful and interesting information and peices and outside there are restored planes, a cockpit display and a RAF whirlwind helicopter. There is an admission fee to the museum and also for the tours inside and the planes that are available in the summer months. Annual membership covers the whole family and is definitely well worth as repeated visits are quite likely. There is a small tea room where light refreshments can be purchsed and can be enjoyed ousited in the picnic area watching aircraft taking off and landing at Norwich Airport. The museum is run mostly by volunteers who are helpful and informative. It makes for a wonderful morning or afternoon out and for small children a very exciting experience seeing the planes up close.

If your child is interested in Aircraft this has to be a great place to visit. We have been to the City of Norwich Aviation Museum many times and even my daughter has enjoyed this informal museum. We all like it because it is possible to go inside many of the aircraft and it is just amazing to see the conditions that RAF crew have to put up with. There is a small museum which interested my children but not somewhere to stay for long. We enjoyed this museum and having bought a family ticket it makes for a cheap afternoon.
