Wollaton Hall Museum overview
One look at its impressive exterior and you can see it must house something special and for anyone in the family interested in Natural History it certainly does. The museum contains a vast array of ...
specimens from f fossilized footprints and living insect displays to a stuffed giraffe and gorilla! The Museum has recently been renovated with the young visitor definitely in mind. Add to this the attractions of a lovely deer park, Victorian gardens and a lake to walk around and you can see why it is on our days out for the family list.
Perfect winter walking!

I visit here several times a year but so far my favorite time has to be winter. The grounds are beautiful all frosted up and with Deer wandering around freely, it really makes it feel like christmas! The museum is really good, with lots of different exhibits with local and not so local animals on display. The huge giraffe certainly makes you look twice! Talks and tours are available throughout the day but we prefer to just wander around and have a look. My 17 month old son loved running through the halls, up and down the stairs, there's so much to look at and is really educational. The cafe located in one of the adjoining courtyards sells a variety of food at a reasonable price. There are toilets located both in the hall and next to the cafe although the cafe ones I found to be quite cold, my poor son was shivering as I changed him. But the grounds are huge! You could spend a whole day walking them and not see everything! We usually follow the path around the hall and down towards the pond and back again. Then there is a big childrens play area which we never seem to have time to do. If its been snowing then the hills here are perfect for sledging and as its free to get in (car parking is about £2) it makes a great family day out. If you want to see nature at its most beautiful, visit here.
