Minster Lovell Hall overview
Minster Lovell Hall is a collection of beautiful old ruins from the 15th Century of a riverside Manor House. Most of the ruins are still in tact and you can get a real sense of the house that was ...
once lived in by Richard III's henchman Lord Lovell. The most in tact parts of the building are the great hall, entrance porch and the tower from the south wing and the rest of the rooms are foundations only. It is good fun trying to guess what the other rooms might be and you do get a sense of history standing in ruined rooms that were used hundreds of years ago.
It is situated beside the River Windrush which is beautiful and there is said to be lots of fish in the river. Ideal for picnics as there is lots of grass. Also good for walks along the river with the family and dog.
Minster Lovell Hall is located directly behind the Church of St Kenelm and is quite hidden from the road. There is also legend that the site is haunted.
Fantastic old ruins to roam in!

We visited the ruins of Minster Lovell Hall whilst staying at a nearby hotel in the village and was recommended to visit it. The ruins are located just behind St Kenelm's Church and are quite hidden from the road leading up to it. They date back to 1435 which is very impressive and much of the building is still quite intact. You can wander through the ruins and guess what the different rooms might have been used for. You do get a great sense of history whilst walking around the ruins and our son loved running about and looking at all the different shapes of the brick. Alongside the ruins is a lovely river and the whole area is simply beautiful. It makes for a lovely walk and there are plenty of spots for picnics. We also visited the old church while we were here which is a very small but beautiful church. Great if your children like history or just being outside in the fresh air and countryside.
