Ickworth House Park and Gardens overview
Ickworth House is a Georgian Italianate style palace set in beautiful rolling countryside. For those interested in history and art, there are important collections of paintings, silver and Regency ...
furniture displayed within the house. The beautiful setting and impressive Rotunda makes this site a popular wedding venue. It is the grounds of Ickworth House that make this National Trust property a fantastic place for families. There are formal gardens, wooded walks, and 1800 acres of parkland, grazed by sheep, with way marked walks of varying lengths ranging from 1-7 miles, as well as a family cycle route and adventure playground. Various organised activity days, history days and concerts are held throughout the year at Ickworth House, so it is worth checking for details of such events before planning your visit. There is a restaurant on site with excellent facilities for families as well as a picnic area, and a refreshments kiosk by the car park. Something to suit everyone in the family and a great way to Get Active!

We had a fairly good time here, these family hotels are great and very child centred indeed, we love Wooley Grange and Fowey, but at Ickworth they fed the children in the cellar, were remarkably unhelpful about slightly different children’s eating times and the children’s club wasn’t nearly so popular with our as others have been – it’s also stuck down in the cellar. Having said that riding rental bikes around the glories of the Ickworth estate deer spotting was superb. The pool is lovely and the rooms are beautiful. Also you’ve got the use of all those goodly National Trust days for kids at the Big House next door.

A great place for family picnics, and perfect for walks of varying length from 1-7 miles. There is a great adventure playground which the kids love, close to picnic area and car park. The house itself is stunning , but usually we only visit the grounds. Some lovely formal gardens but on a bright summers day we love to do the 7 mile circular walk across beautiful open parkland, with livestock grazing in the fields. The children love to paddle in the stream where possible. With a backpack, and plenty of snacks and drinks, this can fill a whole day! There are often special family events eg art and craft activities, easter egg trails, history days and concerts in the summer. The facilities are in the main houseand a quite good. There is a lovely restaurant which can be pricey if going as a family. We love Ickworth and have spent many happy days there!
