Godstone Farm overview

Stroking the animals, even holding the smaller ones, combined with running, hiding and climbing is very much encouraged in this child-friendly farm. Plenty of hand-washing facilities available and ... lots of notices give interesting facts and information about the animals. Enormous outside play areas with tunnels, a maze, fortresses, sand pits and rope walkways and a large indoor play barn for cooler days.

Just right for toddlers - a lovely day

We visited in August 2011 and had a lovely time. The park is aimed at toddlers and young children and everything is very child friendly - right down to small sinks for hand-washing, smaller toilets and plenty of steps up so they can see all the animals. We were quite surprised at how reasonable the entrance fee is compared to others in the area and you could easily spend a good few hours here as there is lots to do. There are loads of farm animals to see, touch and feed and a special small pets area where you can stoke the rabbits and hold baby chicks. There are plenty of play areas and picnic benches and a huge play barn soft play area which looked very manic but they did have a separate area for toddlers which was great for our little one. You can take a tractor ride for a £1 extra but we didn't do this. We ate in the cafe which was just okay - you do get plastic plates and cutlery which was a tad annoying and difficult to cut open a jacket potato!! We had a hilarious moment when our child started feeding the farm dog his cheese straws!. The farm has quite a bit of quirky information about the animals as you go around which I liked - just the odd fact and not huge great paragraphs which you never read! The gift shop was reasonable too!

great value

I am always surprised how much the farm offers but still manages to keep their price reasonable. They have put in a viewing platform this year and the children love being higher up and looking down on the fields. I also like the signs - very child friendly but informative. The children like holding the baby rabbits and guinea pigs.

I have been coming to Godstone Farm since I was a kid and now enjoy bringing my children here. The farm is really lovely because it is so spread out and there’s lots of space for kids to run about. They do have a nice café here, but we have traditionally brought a picnic here and relaxed whilst the kids play in the little wooded areas. There are lots of animals, from ducks, geese and chickens, to rabbits, pigs and sheep; the best time of year is spring to summer when you can see all the baby animals up close. I was slightly worried after the e-coli outbreak, but think now the farm will be more vigilant and, in twenty five years of coming here I’ve never heard another bad word about the place.

Godstone Farm is a great place for families – we have had some brilliant days out there and have stayed literally until closing time. The animals are all spread out; there is even a pretend cow the kids can milk. Inside the main barn is a huge soft play area and café, which keeps the kids entertained for some time. There are other smaller barns with play areas, climbing and slides, and a real tractor kids can sit on and pretend to ride. When we were there they had some activities for kids that were included in the price – we made a ‘grass seed head’, but I imagine the activities change and it may have been because it was a half term. Blissful, country day out!

This a lovely farm, we have been here loads of times, it’s a real hands on experience. There is a lovely little room with baby chicks and the children are welcome to hold them. There are large pens with rabbits for the children to stroke. You can buy a bag of food at the shop and feed the goats and other animals. The children are spoilt for choice when it comes to play areas. There is a huge soft play area with a really good under 4's section, it has a mini wooden caravan with a sink, table and chairs, my son loves it. There is another covered outside play area with lots of wooden equipment like cars you can sit in with gear sticks, the little boys love it! At the top of the hill is a massive outdoor play area with everything, sandpits, a maze, a huge slide, rope climbing frames. The list goes on and on! The tractor ride is fun as well. You probably won't manage to do everything in one day as there is so much. We love it!!

Really 'little person' friendly, we have been a few times. The paths sort of 'lead' you around the farm animals which means you can even let the very small walkers have some independance without having to keep directing them too much. When you have been around the animals there is a very reasonably priced cafe for lunch (gets very busy in the peak times) and a HUGE playground area which would suit up to 12 year olds quite happily. You can easily spend the best part of a day here. Definitely worth a trip.
