Pools on the Park overview
This popular lido, swimming pool and health club is housed in a 1960’s retro-style building that has been renovated to an impressive contemporary standard. Pools on the Park is great for children ...
and families, especially during the summer when children can play and swim indoors or out. The large outdoor pool is surrounded by a grassy area great for sprawling in the sun during the summer and is perfect for picnics and snacks between bathing! Inside is another large pool and a small, warm children’s learner pool. Pools on the Park offer children’s swimming lessons from six months old, and a variety of other clubs take place here, such as children’s yoga, football and karate. After a swim enjoy some refreshment in the café area, have a game of tennis in the outdoor courts, or perhaps a stroll around Richmond town centre. There is an onsite car park and free entry for children under five.

Love this place! I went with a friend and her LO on Wednesday. The car park is reasonable per hour at £1.25 and it is refunded on departure. The staff were happy to help from the start. The cafe was a bit dark, but clean, tidy and big enough for buggies to walk through and it lead through to a grass area with lots of picnic tables or areas for blankets to be put down for picnics.
The changing rooms were clean and there were lots of places to get changed. Lots of lockers all the way around the changing rooms, but there needed to be some that were bigger than normal, for the parents like me, who had two bulky rucksacks. I also took the buggy in as well, for the wee one to have somewhere to sleep after his exhausting kick about, but there is no designated Buggy Park area, which I found strange for a place that encourages families.
The pools themselves looked fabulous, but as I went with an infant, we only got as far as the baby pool. Apart from when there was a lesson on, the pool is definitely big enough, warm enough and well-manned. My son had a fabulous time and I am already talking about going back again.

Pools on the Park is great for combining a swim with a day out. We arrived after lunch and just brought snacks, rather than a picnic so the kids didn’t eat too much whilst they were swimming. It was extremely busy when we went, which made the pool a bit loud and rowdy, however, it didn’t seem to bother the kids. The outdoor pool is great, but a bit chilly! Inside I managed to do some lengths whilst the kids played. Later on we enjoyed some hot chocolate in the café, although again, it was extremely busy. A good pool, but not really relaxing!

We enjoyed a nice afternoon at Richmond Pools on the Park during the early summer. It was quite busy but we were lucky to get a great spot outside for our picnic blanket under a shady tree. The older children disappeared instantly, but some friends of ours had little babies and they were very happy playing on the rug under the tree. We took the babies in to the little pool inside, but didn’t try the outside pool although it did look fun. We enjoyed the day there, but probably spent more time relaxing outside the pool than actually swimming!
