Royal Shakespeare Company overview
The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) is well known throughout the world and their theatre complex has recently opened after a stunning transformation. Performing the works of Shakespeare and his ...
contemporaries, as well as modern writers, they are one of the largest theatre companies in the world. Families are very welcome to this friendly venue with performances for children and family tickets available Monday to Friday evenings and all matinees. There are baby changing facilities on all floors in both ladies and gents toilets and they are breastfeeding friendly and have easy access throughout. The Play Cart in the Swan Reading Room is full of fun activities and books for the kids to enjoy while you relax with a coffee, while the Treasure Trail will take you on a fun route through the history of the theatre. Children are welcome in the Rooftop Restaurant and the Riverside Café. The building is open daily from 10am.

We visited the RSC out of curiosity and a need for coffee(!). Our visit started in the Riverside Cafe - which offers a good coffee at a very good price, as well as colouring in sheets to keep the little ones occupied!
There was a lot in the RSC to keep us there for a good few hours. We completed the family trail, finding out more about the theatre's fascinating history... we did get a little stuck but were helped massively by the very friendly and attentive staff who were dotted around the buidling. We found we could roam just about anywhere in the building - so we had a great time, running about discovering all the nooks and crannies of the building.
Although we didn't have the toddler when we visited, it was very pram-friendly. Wide doors, lifts, etc. I'd recommend going up to the different floors because you get great views across the town. There also seems to be something different everywhere you turn! We discovered boxes in the walls of the staircase with lots of interesting things inside.
I shall definately go again and keep an eye on their forthcoming special events.
