Cannon Hall Farm is a working farm with large variety of farm animals on show, including pigs, sheep and guinea pigs which your children can get close to. Families can also enjoy a large adventure ... playground suitable for both young and older children. Cannon Hall Farm also caters for childrens birthday parties. Facilities on site include a large cafe that provides high chairs, bottle warming facilities and childrens meals. There is also a farm shop and delicatessan where you can purchase locally sourced farm produce, and plenty of car parking. A Grand day out

06 Jul 2011
Visited with: Infant, Child
We visited cannon hall whilst visiting friends Huddersfield. We first went two years ago and the kids enjoyed feeding the animals so returned again last month. The place hadn't changed much, some newer play areas but other than that it looked the same. This was a good thing. We started with lunch in the cafe, as would be expected the wares are slightly on the expensive side however if visiting on a nice day there is plenty of grass on the grounds of the house to eat a picnic and play some games. After eating lunch we went for a walk around the farm, June was a great month to go as there were plenty of newborn baby animals to keep the children engrossed. One downside was that you are no longer allowed to feed the animals, which on our previous visit you were. Pigs, goats, cows, llamas, sheep, guinea pigs, rabbits, wallabies, birds are all present on this farm and the kids, who aren't from the countryside absolutely loved it. Seeing nature so close was brilliant. We then visited the play areas which the kids had to be prised away from. One problem with the play area was that we had a 9 and an adventurous 5 year old with us but that meant they fell into different age categories for the play areas. The different age ranges unfortunately are dramatically different in play area equipment and the 5 year old got bored much quicker. However there is an area which is full of tunnels and this was a hit with the 1 yr old, the 5 yr old and 9 yr old. Ending the day with an ice cream we all had a really enjoyable time. However if it had been raining would have been rather disappointing as very little cover.
