Family Days Out in Greenwich

Take your next family day out together to Greenwich and discover the centre of time! Greenwich is the home of Greenwich Mean Time and also the Greenwich Meridian, central to our understanding of time and place in the world. You can learn all about the significance of these measurements at The Royal Observatory the very place where these measurements are taken from and their historical impact upon the science of the day and their effect on us now. Explore an array of amazing exhibits at the Observatory including the UK’s biggest refracting telescope, London’s only public camera obscura, the oldest thing you’ll ever touch (a 4.5 billion year old meteorite!) and so much more. If that’s all beginning to make your head hurt at all then a wander round Greenwich Park is certainly a soothing antidote. With spectacular views across London from the top of the hill and some stunning flower gardens this royal park is well worth a visit. The kids will love the boating lake and there are some great attractions in the children’s play park too. A fantastic combination of brains and beauty, Greenwich is a real winner for family days out.
