Widely regarded as the UK’s surf capital with its perfect mix of big waves and beautiful beaches, Newquay has played host to international surfing competitions for over 20 years now and has lots on offer for families seeking to spend an exciting day out together. Unsurprisingly Newquay is the home of the National Surfing Centre based on Fistral Beach where they offer a variety of lessons for all ages and abilities. So if you fancy yourself as a bit of a beach boy or girl then get down there and give it a try! If the weather’s a bit chilly and diving headfirst into the ocean doesn’t seem so appealing then you can still get close to the deep without having to don a wetsuit at Blue Reef Aquarium. Blue Reef has a great selection of underwater creatures that you can get great views of in their enormous aquariums. From octopi and seahorses to sharks there’s loads of amazing and unusual beasts. And if you’ve had your fill of all things aquatic then there’s always Dairyland Farm World where you’ll find yourself on terra firma and able to get up close and personal with a number of farm-based beasts. See the cows being milked, feed some of the smaller animals yourself and there’s even the chance to get on something called ‘the Lamborghini hayride’.
