Family Days Out in Peterborough

There are family days out galore in Peterborough so here’s just a few of our own personal child friendly highlights. Any fans of Thomas the Tank Engine in your family will be thrilled to know that his home is in Peterborough, and you can pay him and many of his friends a visit at Nene Valley Railway which also has Britain’s only International Railway Museum with heaps of fun, interactive exhibits telling you all about the old trains’ history. Take a ride on one of the many working steam engines through a series of picturesque landscapes. For more beautiful open spaces head to Nene Park which sits on the meandering River Nene and is a lush and scenic site to take a family wander with plenty of excellent picnic spots if the weather’s nice. If it isn’t so great then there are plenty of indoor pleasures to be had in Peterborough too. One of our favourites is Planet Ice which has a great indoor ice-rink that you and the rest of the family will really enjoy gliding, or perhaps bumping, around!
