This modern, award-winning museum overlooking the harbour is a good choice for a family with a few hours to spare. It tells the history of Aberdeens long connection with the North Sea with many exhibits organised with children in mind. There are multimedia displays on shipbuilding, the fishing industry, the offshore oil industry and Aberdeen as a port. A favourite is a model of an oil rig set up showing such things as how the bunks are arranged and the protective suits for the helicopter rides out to the rigs. There is no entrance fee.
