The Loch Ness Exhibition Centre overview

Certainly the most famous monster in Britain and probably the most elusive. You may not have the time to wait around for one of those rare glimpses and certainly your kids won't, but if you want to ... find out all about it then consider a visit here. With their Lasers, Digital Projections, Special Effects and Multi-lingual Presentations, it is almost better than the real thing and at least there's no wait!

The Loch Ness Exhibition Centre

The Loch Ness Exhibition Centre in Drumnadrochit is a must if you are in the Loch Ness area – we took our son a couple of years ago and he really enjoyed it. You get to see information about the history of Scotland in general as well as specific information on the Loch itself including its history, ecological issues and the arguments for and against the existence of the ‘Loch Ness Monster’ including a display on the different legends concerning the monster. There is also a great gift shop at the exhibition centre where you can pick up some lovely souvenirs.

Not just about the monster

When we decided to visit the centre we were really looking forward to finding out more about the legend of the Loch ness Monster. The tour was really interesting and we were not subjected to a monatone tour guide as you simply walked around the building, and as you moved from room to room, you would listen to an electronic recording (I thought this was very clever!). There were plenty of visual displays that not only told you about the monster but also told you about the lake, which is the biggest in britain. The tour was good value for money with adult tickets costing £6.50 and childrens under 5 going free. The Loch itself is not as ascetically pleasing as some of its scottish counterparts but you will be impressed by the scale of it. We enjoyed it and would go back again.
