There is just so much to do and see at The Glasgow Science Centre that if you live in the area, you should seriously consider a season ticket. If however you are just on holiday in Glasgow then ... it’s a great choice for a family day out on one of those rare rainy days! Where learning is fun

A fascinating place for children that will keep them amused from dawn to dusk, which despite its entrance fees for adults and children (including my two-year), I didn’t begrudge spending the money. Similar in concept to the Science Museum in London, this is a purpose-built building that has exhibitions, events and displays for every age group. My two children adored the Big Explorer area complete with a mini-digger, larger-than-life piano, water play and a boat. It also has a mini soft play area for those aged less than 18 months that my children played in. This is the ideal place to come when you on your own with the children as the youngsters will amuse themselves for hours. You’re just there to hold the coats, locate the toilets and pay for lunch. On the subject of lunch there is a picnic space with refreshments vending machine and snack bar located near the toilets and café/restaurant. Couldn’t tell you about any of the workshops or daily events they had on when we visited as my children were too busy exploring this place. On the second floor there were entertained with the ‘Be Creative Be Innovative’ space, and specifically a sand display and rocking making event. On the third floor my children were once again amused, this time with the Alice in Wonderland theme area. There is so much to see and do that it can become overwhelming. We arrived around opening time on a Sunday and didn’t leave until closing. As soon as we passed through the doors to leave and catch a taxi into Glasgow, the children suddenly became exhausted. A full day of fun and learning where everyone is ready for bed at home time. If we lived in Glasgow I would definitely purchase a season ticket for this place. It’s worth every penny and probably a little extra.
