Camera Obscura overview
What an entrancing and intriguing way to introduce children to this lovely city. Don't tell them what to expect, just say they will get the best views of the city from the top and ignore the grumbles ...
as they climb the six flights of stairs! Really amusing and interesting guides perform the demonstration, and the interactive images, where the children can actually pick pedestrians up, are absolute winners. There is also a 'World of Illusion' gallery, which is almost as entertaining. They wont be disappointed after climbing all those stairs!
fascinating

This was a really cool place to visit, i didn't even know it was there an we spotted it on the off chance by walking past, it didn't look much from the inside but boy was i wrong, its really cool! There is loads of different sections and loads of different things to look at, some of them are very mind baffling! The ending is the coolest part and my son absolutely loved it! highly recommended!

This is a very different way to spend the day and without a doubt your children will find it interesting and magical! Theres loads of different things to look at with lots of bright colours and shiny lights. Each room gives you a different surprise so your left waiting for what the next one has to offer and the finally lets the children see the streets of Edinburgh in a whole different way ( I won't spoil it too much for anybody who is a first timer!) The prices are waht you would expect for a place where you can spend as much time as you like going round and round it as many times as you like! You also get lovely views of Edinburgh from the top if you go out on to the balcony, seeing as far as Fife! Its a really fun activity and I highly recommend it.

A must see attraction

Edinburgh is an extremely interesting city for adults with its history and architecture, but it can be difficult to find something to interest your children. The Camera Obscura really fits the bill as there is lots to keep adults and children occupied, without it costing the earth. We really enjoyed seeing the camera obscura in action and our baby daughter was fascinated by the guide apparently picking people up which was part of the optical illusion. There was also many other exhibits showing different and beautiful optical illusions, as well as terrific views over Edinburgh. This really is a must see attaction for children and adults of all ages.
