Stirling Castle overview
Stirling is a really impressive castle, certainly more than a match for that little one in Edinburgh! Problem with seemingly impregnable places like this is that invading or rebel armies can’t ...
resist the challenge. It’s been besieged over eight times by the Scots against the English and the English against the Scots (score 4:4). Anyway if you are in the area and you are at all interested in history don’t miss out in the opportunity at learning a little about those turbulent times and the good thing is nobody tries to hurl rocks at you when you try to get in these days, they just charge you instead.
An interesting but expensive visit

We visited here recently as my son was doing castles as his topic at school. It is a very interesting castle with plenty of history - I learnt a lot! I did think it was expensive- unless you are members of Historic Scotland and then it is FREE. We did most things and only spent a couple of hours there. An audio guide was available. You get great views of the Wallace Monument, the rest of Stirling and beyond. A cafe is available but I felt with limited choice - more for a coffee than a full meal and again on the expensive side of things. My boys definitely enjoyed it but its not something I could afford to go to on a regular basis.
