Margam Country Park overview
Almost unique in the annals of British Country Houses: free admission, well at least if you don't count the modest car park fee! Which is a bit amazing because there is just so much for the family to ...
see in this huge, well-maintained Park with its 18th Century Orangery, Gothic Mansion and historic gardens. A favourite for the kids is a narrow gauge railway leading to an adventure playground, a birds of prey rescue centre, farm trail and pets corner. All this, and the best collection of deer in Wales. Especially note that there are free children's activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout August.
free and fabulous

Margam Park is a great day out for children as its free (although you do have to pay for parking) but it has a lot to keep them entertained, not least the huge hedge maize which will keep them and you entertained for hours! It also has a minature railway, large chess board, crazy golf and fishing.
It also has Margam abbey,Margam castle and the Orangery which are lovely buildings and the Orangery is a popular wedding venue.
if you are feeling peckish it has a lovely cafe that is family friendly.
Finally it has 1000 acres of parkland that you can spendhours exploring.
