Legionnaires re-enacting life from those far off days. The museum is also open throughout the week and contains an enormous range of artifacts from this fascinating period of Caerleons history.

The main highlight of our visit to Caerleon was seeing the large roman amphitheatre which was certainly impressive for us adults but I am not sure if most younger children would be impressed (our daughter is only 8 months old so it was hard to tell!). After seeing the amphitheatre, we took a walk around the museum which was also interesting for adults but I felt that there should have been more to engage children. We were not fortunate to visit when there was a roman reenactment occurring as I felt this would have made our visit a bit more exciting. On the postive side I was impressed that entry was free but feel that this is a place to visit with teenagers possibly studying history at school.
