Mwnt Beach overview
Mwnt Beach is located in Cardigan Bay, Pembrokeshire and is owned by the National Trust. There is a large car park at the top of the hill which is free for National Trust members or £3 per car at ...
time of writing.
The sandy beach is located in a sheltered cove which is accessed by a steep hill and flight of stairs, meaning that it is very difficult to access with a pushchair. Ths however does mean that it is a very sheltered spot. There is a small gift shop and toilet facilities at the top of the steps. There is no lifeguard in attendance.
There is plenty of scope for walking around the headland, with footpaths accessed from the car park. The scenery is stunning, and next to the car park can be found the beautiful little 15th century Church of the Holy Cross. The beach is also a good spot for dolphin watching.

We visited Mwnt Beach for an afternoon when staying in Pembrokeshire. It's a really beautiful beach, surrounded by some stunning scenery. The carpark is owned by the National Trust, so luckily as members we were able to save the £3 parking charge, which we thought was a little pricey. There was plenty of parking though, and from the carpark you can also access a number of footpaths and see the lovely little Church of the Holy Cross.
The beach is accessed down a flight of steps which would be difficult with a pushchair. There are toilets and a small shop, but they are located at the top of the steps. It's probably worth checking tide times too, as when the tide is in there won't be much beach.
Our toddler isn't very sure about the sea, but we discovered that someone had built a dam at the bottom of a river which flows down to the beach, creating a large pool. This was fantastic, as he was able to splash about in the water and sand without being in the sea itself.
Because the beach is in a cove it is really sheltered from the wind. There some rocks to sit on, or plenty of sand. It's a lovely beach to visit if you're in the area, just be prepared for the steps!
