Our first holiday with child!

We wanted to do a little mini break with our 6 month old and yet not be too far away from home just in case! We were literally in the first few weeks of weaning so decided to book a caravan at Coombe Haven so we had home from home facilities available to us. We got a dirt cheap deal and had a fun time away. There were a few negatives - but you cant really expect too much when you pay so little. The caravan was old and tired but okay for our needs. We hired a travel cot which was fine but we found it didnt fit in the master bedroom with us so we had to put it up in the second bedroom (by folding up the beds against the wall). It could have gone in the lounge also but this would have meant us being silent for our evenings!. It did work out fine in the end though despite some shifting things about! The site itself is pretty good. Lots to do including swimming which was great - indoor and outdoor pools and really good changing room facilities. There is also some good evening entertainment which was good for us with a young baby as it meant he could sleep in the pram whilst we let out hair down a bit. He also loved the childrens entertainment - dressed up characters etc. I imagine this would be a godsend for slightly older children as they have kids clubs etc - all free. The surrounding area is also good. We did a couple of trips out to Bodiam castle and to the seafront. Its not the height of luxury but then we didnt expect much for so little money.

Combe Haven

We holidayed heat Combe Haven with our four teenagers and were very disappointed. If you have young children there is a vast array of entertainment and you will be delighted. Older children do not have enough to do. There are two swimming pools but neither are deep enough to come above the waist and both were exceptionally busy. Our children did enjoy the roller skating rink and crazy golf but other than these activities we had to travel away from the camp for entertainment. The holiday itself cost us very little as we managed to pay for virtually all of it with Tesco vouchers so it is worth saving these up for a cheap holiday. There are numerous clubs for children but little is aimed at teenagers and what there was our children did not want to take part in. We were especially disappointed with the caravans and would not stay in one again. They were very basic and not very clean and we had hoped to have BBQ’s outside but all the caravans were too close together. This holiday certainly did not rate well with our teenagers.

Combe Haven

We went on a very last minute cheap deal and was upgraded in our accomodation as well. We had never been to a Haven before but we know Hastings well due to family being around there. The general service and atmosphere is good. Very much what you would expect from a holiday park but being in England the weather will make a big difference. Even though we were upgraded the accomodation was still quite basic which is worth bearing in mind - it suits your basic needs but not too much more. The benefit of this site is that it is quite close to Hastings sea front where there is plenty to do and Eastbourne is only about 40 mins away in the car.

We really enjoyed our break at Combe Haven. Normandy Court was a lovely, quiet part of the park to stay in. If we visited again it would be great to go back down there. Thanks for a lovely holiday.
