Rainbow Cottages, Carmarthen

We didn't really know what to expect when we booked a weeks holiday at Rainbow Cottages this summer as it was a bit of a last minute booking. The cottage complex is situated way off the beat and track in the beautiful Carmarthenshire countryside. Getting to the cottage was quite an ordeal as you have to travel a number of miles through narrow country lanes ( I am now an expert at reversing!) and the farm track to the cottage was very bumpy so our cars suspension was a bit worse for wear by the end of the week. The cottage itself was beautiful as it had a modern open plan feel but still retained the character of the old cottage. The only downside to this was that it was difficult to settle our daughter to sleep in the evenings as there was no door to shut outside the bedroom. There also was not much storage and no bath, just a shower. The views from outside were breathtaking and the cottages communal hot tub made the most of this. We did take our daughter in the hot tub and she really enjoyed it although we did not check to see whether this complied with child safety guidance. One of the highlight of the cottages were the many peacocks that roamed around as well as the friendly sheep that came over to be stroked. Our daughter loved seeing all the farm yard animals although I wasn't too thrilled by all the noise the peacocks made at the crack of dawn. The cottage was an ideal base for exploring Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, and the price of our stay was extremely good value. I would highly recommend a stay here and will look back on this holiday with fond memories.
