A lovely, relaxing break

27 Apr 2012
Visited with: Child
I visited Bluestone in October 2011. My husband, my (then) 2 year-old and I stayed in one of the cottages in the heart of the "village". I felt that there was plenty of room for the 3 of us, with an open-plan kitchen/living area and two bedrooms. There was one bathroom and a also a downstairs toilet. The cottage was immaculate and the welcome pack of washing up liquid, etc was provided although it is probably only enough for about 2 days. I found the staff helpful. The shops in the village were nice, although predictably expensive. We didn't eat out, but ordered in takeaway pizza one night which was good. We really enjoyed the activities and there really was something for all of us. I enjoyed the spa, my husband enjoyed the high wire tree-top walks and our son loved the kids activites, including a pirate adventure and a forest explorers afternoon. The Lego room was a hit and the adventure center was great. Although it was not soft play, I felt that it was suitable for children of all ages. We also enjoyed the Blue Lagoon pool. It is not huge, but the wave pool, slides, lazy river and infant pool kept us going. All-in-all, a good holiday and would recommend to anyone.

Bluestone Fun at Half Term

16 Mar 2009
Visited with: Child
I took my two daughters, 5 & 2 yrs,(and husband!) to Bluestone during half term and we had a wonderful time. The accommodation was excellent with comfy beds, strong showers (and bath) and a well equipped kitchen – it even had a couple of dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. Although activities for the kids were organised, we really didn’t need them as the pool was great, we hired bikes (which for my two was a novelty and for me the most exercise I’ve got in ages!) and there were a wealth of walks both on and off the site. There’s a lovely bakery (read croissants and fresh bread!) and a corner shop that had the basics at normal prices for a corner shop (a relief after finding many such places in other resorts ripping me off!). We also spent a lovely evening at the pub – where local ale and a warm fire kept us rooted while the games supplied entertained the kids. One piece of advice – it gets really dark at night and some of the routes back to the cottages are a bit dark, so its worth taking a torch. All in all, a great place to stay with kids
