then sail down the Nile to the Valley of Kings and Karnak Temple in a felucca the traditional Red Sea wooden sailing boats. Day 1 – Arrive into Cairo. Day 2 – From Cairo visit the mysterious Sphinx and Great Pyramids and learn more about Egyptian history at the famed Egyptian Museum. In the evening you will travel to Aswan via overnight sleeper train. Day 3 – In the morning take this fabulous opportunity to ride a camel to St Simeon’s monastery. In the afternoon explore Aswan where Arab Middle East meets black Africa, a centre with a rich trading heritage which can be fully appreciated at the packed bazaar. To top the Indiana Jones of a day, a dinner will be organised at one of the local Nubian villages. Day 4 – What better way to journey the Nile but in a traditional felucca, spending a night camped on comfy mattresses under the stars. Day 5 – In the morning the felucca will stop at various temple sites before you jump off to drive to Luxor a 3 hour journey following the path of the Nile. Day 6 – You will need to rise early to visit to the Pharaohs in the Valley of the Kings and in particular to see the burial site of Tutankhamun. In the afternoon you will be taken by horse-drawn carriage to the most splendid of Egypt’s temples – Karnak. Day 7 – Fly to Cairo to experience its many attractions. Day 8 – Trip ends with a transfer to Cairo airport and your return flight home.
