- Spend part of your stay exploring the surrounding countryside. Paths are well marked and maintained. Many resorts have mountain bikes or ponies for hire and its more fun to explore on horseback.
- A day out to the nearest big town makes an interesting break. Public transport in excellent in Austria and historic towns like Salzburg (Mozart’s birthplace) or Innsbruck have so much for the children to see.
- Après Ski is not just mulled wine, it also means having fun and all of the larger resorts offer evening entertainment aimed all ages so it is worthwhile checking what is on offer.
- A top attraction for kids in Austria is to send them down a Salt Mine! The deep giant salt caverns are in the heart of the Dürrnberg Mountain close to Salzburg. The trip inside the mountain by narrow gauge train and then on a cushion down a long, long wooden slide is just fantastic fun for the kids
- The Eisriesenwelt Cave is one of the largest ice caves in the world. It has its own underground glacier, frozen waterfalls and impressive rock formations. Make sure the kids are warmly dressed as it is icy cold down there.
