Good Morning Vietnam! Family Holiday overview

A fascinating holiday for families, offering a perfect balance of history, culture, and adventure. Visit the markets at Vietnam before venturing on a boat trip to the secluded Halong Bay. Then on to ... the old port of Hoi Han with its colourful streets, and taking a relaxing trip down the waterways of the Mekong Delta. Day 1 – Take an overnight flight from London to Hanoi. Day 2 – Since you'll have just arrived from London, you’ll have a light tour of Hanoi considered to be the Paris of the Orient a fascinating yet mesmerising city. Day 3 – Today you will have the opportunity to explore all of Hanoi City. You’ll see motorbikes swarm through the tangled web of streets in the Old Quarter, hawkers in conical hats. Watch t’ai chi at dawn on the shores of Hoan Kiem Lake and in the evening you’ll enjoy a performance of water-puppet theatres, unique to Vietnam. Day 4 – You’ll be driven along the coast to the stunning Halong Bay for a wonderful boat trip which will allow you to see some of the most impressive caves. Day 5 – You’ll return to Hanoi in the morning in order to take the overnight Reunification Express, to Vietnam’s cultural capital of Hue. Day 6 / 7 – Over the next couple of days you will explore the fascinating city of Hue, the capital of the Nguyen emperors, Hue is packed with temples, tombs, palaces and pagodas. Make sure you take plenty of photos of the Perfume River, as the light of this historic place gives photographs a hazy, purple tinge. Day 8-10 – Hoi An. A great play to hire a bike since cars are prohibited, this town is full of charm and history; this is definitely more of a tourist location. Day 11 – Following your arrival in Saigon you will make a visit to the famous Viet Cong hideout which will give you a greater insight into this particular era of Vietnamese history, you will also have dinner with a local family. Day 12 – You’ll spend the day in Vietnam’s ‘rice basket’, the Mekong Delta a watery landscape of green fields and sleepy villages and the night with a local family. Day 13 – Once you return from the Mekong Delta you will have a free day to explore the Saigon or should we say Ho Chi Minh. Day 14 – Trip ends and you will take an overnight flight to London. Day 15 – Arrive London. Day 15-19 - Optional Angkor Wat Extension. Day 1-12 – As per main itinerary. Day 13 – Once you have completed your sightseeing tour of Saigon you will take an evening flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia. Day 14 / 15 You will spend the next 2 days on a guided tour of the famous Angkor Wat. Day 16-17 – You will take a flight to Phnom Penh the Cambodian Capital and spend 2 days exploring the city which is steeped in history and culture. Day 18 – Fly to Saigon here the trip ends as you will be taking an overnight flight to London. Day 19 – Arrive London.
